As insurance mandates go, workers’ compensation insurance has a long history leading up to laws in 1917 requiring workers’ compensation insurance for all employers.
If you are an employer, you are required by law to purchase and maintain workers’ compensation insurance to protect both you and your employee from financial loss due to accidents and other injuries on the job.
Do I have to?
Yes. If you do not purchase workers’ compensation insurance, there are financial penalties. In Idaho if an employee is injured and you do not have WC insurance, you will be required to pay the employee an additional 10% plus lawyer fees and court costs if the case goes to court.
